Steps & Skips Handout: The Basics of Reading Music

I use this cute handout to send home to parents after teaching these concepts to my beginning students, so they can help review the concepts at home. It details the way I start teaching my students to read notes on the staff, including teaching steps and skips on my stairs, on my giant floor keyboard with beanbags, on the real piano, on my giant floor staff with beanbags and then finally using notes on my Steps and Skips Strips. I send the Steps and Skips Strips home with the student after the lesson, and this handout helps explain everything so parents can help them practice the Strips carefully at home.
