When I was a teenager, I taught piano lessons. In the summer I kept a stash of Otter Pops out in our shed freezer, and after lessons I would give one to my students! This year I thought I would use popsicles as a fun practice incentive. I bought some adorable popsicle stickers on Amazon and made a practice chart to fit. Hope you enjoy!

This year-long incentive includes ten different challenges that students can work to complete, all based on the number 25. Challenges may be earned multiple times, and some of them overlap, which means that students can get a boost of motivation as they pass off a couple at a time. File includes ten beautifully-designed challenge stamps in different sizes, a suitcase page for students to collect their stamps on, a studio check-off sheet to track the progress of all your students in one place, and a student check-off page to keep track of how many of each item has been completed.

This year marks 25 years since I started teaching piano! I saw an idea online that another teacher was doing to celebrate her 40 years of teaching, and decided to create my own version. Of course, you could do a similar challenge despite that number of years you have taught! This is just a great way to get students to make and reach goals and to make lots of progress throughout the school year.

This year-long incentive includes ten different challenges that students can work to complete, all based on the number 25. Challenges may be earned multiple times, and some of them overlap, which means that students can get a boost of motivation as they pass off a couple at a time. I printed off the blank suitcase page on cardstock and put them in each student’s binder. When they pass off a challenge, we cut out the coordinating stamp from the page of small challenge stamps and they get to glue it on their suitcase.

My students receive a small prize from a prize bin when they complete a challenge. I will also be recognizing those students who complete challenges at the studio recital. Some of these challenges take quite a bit of time and effort! My students know that one of the quickest ones to earn is the 25 Pages of Sight-Reading challenge, and they are already stepping up their sight-reading game to reach this goal! I made a poster with some of the images from this file and put it up in my studio so students can track their progress and see how the whole studio is doing.

The ten challenges are:

25 pieces passed off

25 days practiced

25 minutes of practice for 25 days

25 fakebook songs learned

25 hymns learned

25 composers learned (music by 25 composers)

25 scales passed off

25 practice days in a row

25 classical pieces listened to

25 pages of sight-reading
